Kazi Nazrul Islam, (24 May 1899 - 29 August 1976) was a Bangladeshi poet, writer, musician and national poet of Bangladesh. Known as Nazrul, he formed a large body of poetry and music that included religious fervor and rebellion against oppression. Nazrul's activism for political and social justice earned him the title of "Rebel Poet." His compositions form the unreal genre of Nazrul Geeti (Nazrul's music).
